The Signatory Vintage Longmorn 16 Year Old (2018/2019 Release) is a standout from the "Cask Strength Collection." While the distillery’s own official 16-year-old is often critiqued for its leather-wrapped packaging over its liquid,Signatory’s independent bottling of Longmorn is exactly the opposite: a "distillate-first" expression that showcases why this distillery is often called the "Holy Grail" of Speyside.

The most notable release from this period was distilled in 2002 and matured in a pair of First-Fill Bourbon Barrels(specifically Casks #800648 & #800649), offering a vibrant, tropical profile that is rare to find in official distillery bottlings.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Exceptionally bright and creamy. It opens with vanilla bean, lemon curd, and victoria sponge cake. As it sits in the glass, the legendary Longmorn tropicality emerges—notes of ripe mango, lychee, and fresh pineapple. There is a soft floral undertone, reminiscent of honeysuckle and chamomile tea.

Palate: The mouthfeel is thick, oily, and powerful. The 55.3% ABV carries a massive "fruit salad" of flavors: pears, melons, and passion fruit. This sweetness is balanced by a zesty citrus pith and a warming spice profile of white pepper and powdered ginger. Mid-palate, you'll find a touch of honey-salted caramel and a hint of mineral chalkiness.

Finish: Long, elegant, and surprisingly drying. The tropical fruit notes linger on the tongue, eventually giving way to black tea tannins, toasted oak, and a final burst of orange zest.
