Signatory Vintage Whisky Sample Inchmurrin (Loch Lomond) 1993 21 Year Old Cask Strength Collection 2015 Release (30ml, 57.6%)
This is a "hidden gem" for true whisky enthusiasts. Inchmurrin is one of the many unique styles produced at the Loch Lomond distillery, known for its specific pot stills with cooling trays that produce a remarkably fruity, floral, and elegant spirit.
Cask #2850 is a legendary one among Signatory Vintage enthusiasts. Because this was a single Hogshead, only a limited number of bottles (typically around 220–240) were ever produced, making it a true rarity.
This specific cask is famous for being a "fruit bomb." While some Inchmurrin can be quite grassy, Cask 2850 leaned heavily into the waxier, tropical side of the 1993 vintage.
Tasting Notes
Nose: This is 1990s Highland distilling at its peak. It opens with an incredible perfume of apricot jam, papaya, and honeyed malt. There is a distinct old-school waxiness here—think of a freshly snuffed beeswax candle. As it breathes, a floral elegance emerges, like dried chamomile and gorse bushes in the sun.
Palate: Thick and oily. The 57.6% ABV carries the flavors perfectly without the need for much water. It leads with tinned pineapple and passion fruit, followed by a creamy vanilla custard note. Mid-palate, the oak provides a refined structure—notes of cinnamon sticks, antique wood, and a hint of white chocolate. It is complex, evolving from bright fruit to deep, savory oak.
Finish: Exceptionally long and "golden." The tropical fruit sweetness lingers, eventually drying out into a sophisticated mix of grapefruit peel, soft ginger spice, and herbal tea.
