Octomore Tasting Set 15 Series 2024 Release (30ml x 3)

The Octomore 15 Series (2024 Release) continues Bruichladdich’s "Impossible Equation," pushing the boundaries of what is possible with peat, barley provenance, and wood. This series is particularly notable for the 15.3, which features the second-highest phenol count ever recorded in the distillery’s history.

Tasting Note

Octomore 15.1 (The Control, 108.2 PPM / 59.1% ABV)

Nose: Caramel and vibrant citrus open the bouquet, delicately wrapped in Octomore’s signature dry, earthy peat smoke.Beneath the smoke lies spicy aniseed, vanilla custard, and a hint of tropical fruit and geranium.

Palate: The entry is a powerful hit of heat balanced by sweet dry malt. A refreshing medley of mango, banana, and apricot jam cuts through the heavy smoke, rounded out by creamy vanilla toffee.

Finish: A long, lingering combination of sweet charred oak and peat smoke, ending with a crisp, refreshing marine saltiness.

Octomore 15.2 (The Cask Expression, 108.2 PPM / 57.9% ABV)

Nose: Much sweeter and more "pastry-forward" than the 15.1. Lemon meringue pie, lime zest, and smoked honey dominate, supported by notes of toasted bread and roasted coffee.

Palate: Viscous and remarkably smooth. The Cognac influence brings a deep richness, offering flavors of vanilla custard and caramel punctuated by a crack of black pepper. Mid-palate notes of pear drops and dried apricot weave through the peat embers.

Finish: Distinctly maritime. Waves of sea spray and salt settle on the tongue, while a gentle, earthy peat smoke lingers for a long duration.

Octomore 15.3 (The Islay Barley, 307.2 PPM / 61.3% ABV)

Nose: Despite the massive PPM, the nose is surprisingly elegant. It leads with smoked cinder toffee, honey, and rich malted barley sugar. Coastal notes of crushed seashells and sea spray mingle with toasted nuts, cloves, and a faint hint of coconut.

Palate: High strength but incredibly soft in texture. The "fatty" character of the Islay barley shines through with butterscotch and creamy vanilla. The Oloroso influence provides depth through dried fruits and orange zest, all underpinned by relentless waves of dry, ashy smoke.

Finish: Intense and brooding. Burnt sugar, coconut, and dark chocolate settle into a final, lasting impression of thick, earthy peat smoke that seems to never quite disappear.
