This particular bottling is often cited as a "holy grail" for fans of heavily sherried Highland malts. The 1993 vintage is widely regarded by enthusiasts as one of the finest in The GlenDronach's history, representing the distillery's peak traditional style before its temporary closure in 1996.

Distilled on the 15th of January, 1993, and aged for a quarter-century in a single Pedro Ximénez Sherry Puncheon, this is GlenDronach in its most concentrated form. While many sherry casks can become overly "tannic" or "dry" after 25 years, Cask #5854 was selected by the Master Blender for its perfect balance of dark fruit intensity and polished oak. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.5%, it is a non-chill filtered, deep-mahogany time capsule.

Tasting Notes

Nose: The experience begins with deep, decadent aromas characteristic of long-term PX maturation. Expect sticky Highland toffee, dense fruitcake, and layers of wildflower honey. There is a refined undertone of old tobacco leaf and polished mahogany that speaks to its quarter-century in wood.

Palate: At 54.5% ABV, the arrival is powerful but velvety. It leads with blackcurrant jam and a surprising, cooling hint of menthol that cuts through the richness. The core is dominated by sticky toffee pudding, dark chocolate ganache, and stewed plums.

Finish: The finish is exceptionally long and evolves from sweet to savory. It leaves a lingering coat of dark manuka honey, aniseed, and liquorice, with the dry tannins of the Spanish oak providing a sophisticated, firm structure.
