Cadenhead's Loch Lomond Whisky Sample 24 Year Old Warehouse Tasting / Online Tasting Week May 2021 Release (30ml, 48.7%)

Selected exclusively for Cadenhead's Online Tasting Week in May 2021 straight out of the Campbeltown dunnage warehouses, this 24-year-old expression sits at a perfectly concentrated 48.7% ABV. It offers a stark, marvelous contrast to mainstream, entry-level expressions by highlighting the distillery’s legendary, industrial "fruit bomb" DNA. It captures old-school Highland character at its absolute finest.

Tasting Notes

Nose: An immediate explosion of vintage tropical fruit. Intense aromas of overripe bananas, charred pineapples, and soft passionfruit fill the air. Beneath the fruit lies a gorgeous, waxy complexity layered with damp oak, mineral diesel oil, and a soft hint of herbaceous Highland heather.

Palate: Incredibly viscous, greasy, and tongue-coating. Sweet vanilla fudge, honeyed biscuits, and lemon curd lead into a deeper wave of exotic guava and mango. The distillery's signature industrial accent forms a beautiful backbone, offering notes of copper coins, candle wax, and a pinch of white pepper.

Finish: Extremely long, textured, and clean. The dense tropical fruit notes slowly dry down into toasted almonds, grapefruit zest, warming wood spices, and a final, a very light lingering of waxy mineral smoke.

Why this bottle is special: This bottle is special because Cadenhead's Warehouse Tasting releases are selected with zero commercial compromise—they are chosen specifically to impress the most critical palates in the whisky community during festival weeks. More importantly, it is special because of how it frames Loch Lomond's distillate. While standard official bottlings frequently rely on complex wood finishes to add character, this expression relies entirely on 24 years of patient maturation in a single hogshead. This pure environment allowed the distillery’s heavy, oily, straight-neck pot still esters to condense over a quarter-century into an unctuous, waxy fruit bomb. It is a rare glimpse into the unadulterated heart of an industrial Speyside/Highland hybrid powerhouse.
