The Bruichladdich Rock'on-daal 03.1 was the headlining release for Fèis Ìle 2024 (the Islay Festival of Music and Malt). Following the trend of the Rock'on-daal series, this "03.1" edition is a celebration of the "Laddie" unpeated style, but with a complex, high-concept maturation.

Aged for 10 years, this release is a marriage of spirit matured in Bourbon casks and Sauternes casks. It represents the "modern" Bruichladdich profile: a focus on hyper-provenance, high-quality wine wood, and the characteristic salt-sprayed fruitiness of the distillery.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Exceptionally bright and "yellow." It opens with the scent of honey-drizzled apricots, ripe peaches, and lemon curd. The Sauternes influence provides a rich, floral sweetness reminiscent of honeysuckle and elderflower. Beneath the fruit lies the classic Bruichladdich "Atlantic" tang—sea breeze, warm sand, and a hint of malted milk biscuits.

Palate: Creamy and mouth-filling. The entry is a luscious wave of vanilla bean and caramelized pineapple, followed by a zesty citrus "spark" of grapefruit and lime peel. The mid-palate introduces a more savory, herbal complexity with notes of marzipan, toasted oak, and a touch of white chocolate. The texture is silky, almost waxy.

Finish: Long, elegant, and perfectly balanced. The sweetness of the stone fruits lingers, eventually giving way to a drying mineral saltiness and a final, spicy flick of ginger and cracked pepper.
