Bruichladdich Feis Ile 2021 Tasting Set (30ml x 2)
- Bruichladdich 17 Year Old Single Cask Feis ile 2021 Release (59.2%)
- Bruichladdich Laddie Origins Feis ile 2021 Release (30ml, 56.3%)
The Fèis Ìle 2021 festival was a "virtual" celebration, but for Bruichladdich, the liquid was as tangible and high-voltage as ever. These two releases showcase the extremes of the distillery: one being a precise, hyper-rare single cask, and the other a complex, multi-vintage story of the distillery’s philosophy.
Tasting Notes
Bruichladdich 17 Year Old Single Cask (Fèis Ìle 2021)
Distilled: 2003 | Cask #001 | 59.2% ABV
This is a pinnacle "Laddie." Distilled in 2003 and matured for 17 years in a single second-fill Sherry Butt, this was one of the most coveted bottles of the 2021 festival. Because it was matured in a second-fill cask, the sherry hasn't "shouted over" the spirit; instead, it has integrated with Bruichladdich’s unpeated, floral DNA to create a masterpiece of balance. Bottled at a thunderous 59.2%, it is a pure, unadulterated expression of the warehouse’s best.
-
Nose: Elegant and complex. Notes of dried apricots, honeysuckle, and orange marmalade meet a savory hint of toasted walnuts and polished oak.
-
Palate: Thick and viscous. A syrupy arrival of sultanas and dark honey, followed by a saline, maritime tang that reminds you it was matured on the shores of Loch Indaal.
-
Finish: Long, warming, and sophisticated. It leaves a trail of poached pears, gentle ginger spice, and sea salt.
Why this bottle is special
This isn't just a limited edition; it’s a single-cask selection (#001) that represents the absolute "gold standard" of the 2003 vintage. With only a few hundred bottles produced for the festival, this is a rare opportunity to taste a high-age, high-proof Bruichladdich that remains perfectly poised between fruit and wood.
Bruichladdich "Laddie Origins" (Fèis Ìle 2021)
Multi-Vintage Blend | 56.3% ABV
"Laddie Origins" was created as a liquid tribute to the distillery’s journey since its 2001 reopening. It is a complex vatting of 13 different casks, including spirit distilled from Islay-grown, Organic, and Biodynamic barley. It features a diverse wood profile including ex-bourbon, Sherry, and French wine casks. It is essentially the "DNA" of Bruichladdich captured in a single bottle.
-
Nose: Fresh and vibrant. Lemon zest, green apple, and freshly cut grass mingle with a creamy vanilla fudge and a whiff of Atlantic sea spray.
-
Palate: A kaleidoscope of flavor. Peach cobbler and malted biscuits lead into a spicier mid-palate of cinnamon and black pepper. The different barley types provide a unique, earthy "grain" texture.
-
Finish: Crisp and mineral. A signature salty citrus finish that lingers with a touch of toasted oak.
Why this bottle is special
While single casks are about a specific moment, "Laddie Origins" is about the philosophy. It brings together their most important barley experiments and cask types into one high-proof (56.3%) festival exclusive. It is the ultimate "curator's dram," designed to show the world exactly what makes Bruichladdich the most transparent distillery in Scotland.
